A small remote island in Seto Inland Sea
Kosagi-jima is a small island with a population of 4 people.
Here offers an extraordinary experience with the island's natural environment, its lifestyle, and the daily scenery.
Kosagi-jima is a small island located in the Seto Inland Sea, about 2.7 km south of the center of Mihara, Hiroshima, with a population of 4 people. It is said to be "the closest island to the Shinkansen station in Japan".
In Taisho period (1912~1926), this island greatly prospered in the shipbuilding industry of sailing ships with hot-bulb engines. About 140 islanders lived here until early Showa.
Nowadays it entertains tourists with art and nature.
Visitors can enjoy beautiful beaches, seasonal flowers, the "Kosagi-jima Lighthouse" built in Meiji era, and citrus fields, all of which are unique to the Seto Inland Sea and Kosagi-jima.
YADO NAVEL no GAKKOU is a renovated 90-year-old house.
It was opened as a training facility in 2018. Since the fall of the same year, we started running it as an inn in the hope that "more people will come to know the charms of Kosagi-jima".
Baachan Shokudo, which is attached to the inn, offers dishes using the local ingredients and vegetables grown by the elderly on the island.
There are no shops or vending machines,no Wi-Fi on the island. But there are actually so many extraordinaries like orange picking experience, the local delicacies, or just relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet...
